
Ronnie James Dio (born july 10th, 1942 in Portsmouth, England) was a Heavy Metal singer and songwriter. He initially played the trumpet and French horn, and recorded various singles when he was a teen. After entering high school he learned to play bass and created a band called King Vegas, where he also learned to sing. The success really came in 1975 when guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (ex-Deep Perple) invited him to be lead singer of his band, Rainbow. Along with Ritchie, Dio has released four albums. After leaving the group in 1979, Dio was invited by Tony Iommi, to replace Ozzy Osbourne, where he remained until 1982. The same year he created his own band, Dio. Making the expected success, Dio back to Black Sabbath for recording one album in '92, Returning to the works in his band, Ronnie back in sound with members of Black Sabbath in 2006 under the name Heaven and Hell, making a grand world tour and releasing the album the Devil You Know in April 2009. On November 25, 2009, Wendy, his wife and businesswoman, announced that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. After much fighting and heavy treatments, Ronnie James Dio died on May 16, 2010, making a huge legion of fans around the world run out the voice of his idol.
